Treatment Action Campaign and MSF held a meeting last week to discuss IP protection in South Africa and the IP policy that is under development by the DTI.
MacDonald Netshitenzhe, Chief Director of Policy and Legislation at the DTI attended the
meeting and confirmed that the revised Intellectual Property Policy will be submitted to Cabinet on 5 December. Following this there will be a three month period of public consultation starting in either December or January. The DTI aims to finalise and adopt the policy by April 2013.
