Day 1

The 10th International Congress on AIDS in Asia and the Pacific started today in Busan, South Korea. In the inaugural session, there were speeches by UN Secretary General, UNAIDS and WHO. But suprisingly none of them raised concerns about ongoing free trade negotiations taking place in the region that may impact access to medicines.

Korean PLHIV activists interrupted the Korean Health Minister’s speech at the opening ceremony with a message:

“No discrimination, No FTA, and enough hypocrisy! “
